Calgary is a beautiful city to begin with, but there are a few places where its beauty really shines. This means that they make the picture perfect backdrop to your next Instagram post!
From the infamous Peace Bridge to the Wonderland sculpture, we sat down with Aliya of Style By Aliya, a designated professional accountant turned fashion and lifestyle blogger, to get her input when it comes to the best places to take Instagram photos in Calgary.
Let’s jump in!
“Teatro is one of the oldest buildings, a circa-1911 bank building, in downtown Calgary. With its beautiful exterior and equally elegant interior, it is one of Calgary’s finest restaurants and best spots to take a photo.”
“A short drive away from Calgary in the Foothills, this farm is so picturesque with its blooming greenhouses. Think Western and this is the place for you!”
“From the new Calgary Public Library to the Simmons Building and all the surrounding streets, this area has every imaginable type of architecture and colour scheme to match your feed.”
“There are so many of these bright colourful instagrammable murals in the downtown core. Some include the geometric wall on the side of Samuel’s Camera Store, Abstract Art on 17 th Avenue, Bugs Buzz near the Community Natural Foods and the Corridor of Connection in East Village.”
“Wonderland or the Giant Head is one of the most photographed contemporary landmarks in Calgary. Any time of day, there will be someone taking photos– be sure to go during sunset as the lighting can be quite harsh otherwise.”
“Day or night, you will find amateur to professional photographers walking around with their cameras in hand. Stephen Avenue is one of the busiest and liveliest streets in Calgary and great for street photography. You might even catch me here at around 4pm taking photos of my own!”
“Located in The Core, this indoor park and botanical garden has the best lighting and will keep your fingers and toes warm during those cold Calgary Winters.”
“It truly is one of the most beautiful bridges in the city and maybe even the country. With its modern design and red colour, it makes for amazing pictures year-round!”
“As I once read on IG, you can’t be a blogger in Calgary and not take a picture outside of this iconic cafe. Early morning or late afternoon/evening are highly recommended to avoid the crowds.”
