Hey everyone! Today I’d like to share a few tips on creating fun and engaging BTS content for your socials! No matter the industry you are in, or the type of product you’re creating for your followers, these four tips will give you a lot of fresh ideas that you’ll be able to share in no time.

But first, I’d like to mention why behind-the-scenes content is so important.

Sharing your process and how you got to the final product gives your brand some personality and shows your audience the work you put into creating it. Your viewers will be able to relate to you and share their support thanks to the new visibility of your brand. It also helps build trust and get to know you better as a person.

Here are my four favourite things to share for behind-the-scenes content that create more engagement:

1. How I Did This

This category demonstrates the setup, the tools, and the team needed to create your product. In my example, I am showing the set layout, the lighting, and the overall atmosphere from our True North Cannabis Co. shoot a couple of months ago. This is really impactful because the final image looks nothing like the setup, since it’s so zoomed in, and without sharing this the viewer would have never known all the work put into this specific shot. For photographers and visual artists that follow us, it also helps to show how we created this “outdoors”-y set in a controlled lighting setting, which could be inspirational for their next shoot!

2. Before And After

This is similar to my previous tip but focuses more on the post-production area of the product. There are still finishing and detailing steps that need to be taken in order to deliver the final product. In this case, I am showing the photo that was set up with some assistance and then the final shot of the Photoshop edited version. Before and After can also show specific results of what happens when the viewer uses your product or service.

3. Day In The Life

Revealing BTS content of how you work, your surroundings, and what your daily routine grounds you as a person. It shows your audience that, just like them, you also get up early in the morning, grab your favourite coffee, and answer emails. It shows that it’s not all about the creative shoots and exciting things, but that there is a more ordinary side to your business that you need to do for your brand to thrive. It could also reveal your favourite places to visit before, during, or after work, and may create more engagement with the viewers who’d like to visit these places as well. Favourite shops, restaurants, and activities that relate to your style are just some of the spots you could share with your audience.

4. Sneak Peek

Showing a sneak peeks of a product gets your audience excited about what you’re working on and brings them to check back and see what it is that you came up with. This builds the anticipation, in return driving more views to your page. It could be a photo or video of a product close up, or a shoot location, anything that gives the viewer just enough information about something new coming up, but not enough to show what it is!

BTS Content As A Way To Connect

At the end of the day, behind-the-scenes content helps your viewers better understand who you are as a person and helps you gain a bigger audience that thrives on your product and services. The more you share about your life, your wins and struggles, the more the audience will relate to you and trust you as a person and a business.
