Did you know more than 65% of the TIA Team is made up of women? While Tuesday, March 8th was International Women’s Day, March is also Women’s History Month. In celebration of Women’s History Month, we asked the staff at TIA what this month means to them. Read on for some major #GirlBoss energy.
Women are powerful. And International Women’s Month is a chance for us to be reminded of that. Take a look around you at the incredible women in your life and admire what they are capable of and all that they have accomplished in their lifetimes. As Jo March, one of my favourite literary characters of all time, said, “Women have minds and souls as well as just hearts, and they’ve got ambition and talent as well as just beauty.”
International Women’s Month is such a powerful and motivating month to recognize all the success, goals, accomplishments, hardships, struggles, and beauty that comes with being a woman. All of these should be celebrated as women inspire and create brilliance today. As Cher once said, “Women are the real architects of society.”
International Women’s Month is a time to celebrate the achievements of women from around the world. It’s also a time for us to raise awareness of gender biases and inequality and continue pushing toward gender equality.
Let’s take this month to celebrate our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, cousins, daughters, and every badass woman who has impacted our lives!
Women’s equality is something that is continuously threatened. Whether we’re talking about fair pay wages, personal rights, or ethical treatment, there is so much work to be done. International Women’s Day and International Women’s Month means focusing on women and womxn. It’s an important time for us all to take a step back and think about the incredible women and womxn in all of our lives, their struggles, their strength, determination, perseverance, and so much more. Do better. Listen more closely. Your mothers, grandmothers, sisters, cousins, daughters, aunts, need you to see the value they bring to the table and their worth.
Girlboss / BossBabe > Boss. shEO > CEO. International Women’s Month (and beyond) means not making the idea of women in a higher-level positions more digestible. It’s equal pay, equal treatment, and equal value. It’s giving credit when credit is due and for women to not apologize when they don’t need to.
Acknowledging and honouring the amazing women around us should always be constant, but this month is really the time to bring that to the forefront. It’s important to recognize the contributions that women make to society each day, and uphold all their achievements over the years. Shoutout to all the women out there! YOU ARE AMAZING!
I was raised by a large tribe of strong women, led by a single mother. Now, as an adult with my own family, a wife and two beautiful daughters, I continue to reap the benefits of being surrounded by strong, ambitious, brave women. International Women’s Month to me is a global reminder of the true impact women have had in society, from the past, present, and future, and how truly critical their role in humanity is <3 Love and support the women in your life, every day.
International Women’s Month is the time to celebrate the major milestones we have achieved so far; but it’s also important for us to reflect on the work that still needs to be done. I can’t count how many times in my career I’ve walked into the boardroom as the only woman; the only female voice and perspective. It’s great to have the opportunity to stand out, but it shouldn’t be solely because of my gender. I like to take this time to reflect on how I can affect change, how I can ensure no one is ever the “only” or “token voice” in the boardroom. So many women have blazed a trail before me, it’s now my responsibility to pick up the torch and clear the path forward for those women who come after me.
International Women’s Month means celebrating all of the incredible, powerful, and inspirational women around the world, and who I have had the privilege of being surrounded and supported by. Outside of the immense love I have for the strong women in my life like my mother, grandmother, and best friends (who are all kick-ass), it’s also a time for me to remember that there is still a lot of work to be done in our society. More equal pay, treatment, and value. We are ALL incredible! <3
It’s a great time to celebrate the power of women! None of us would exist without women, and the world would be a better place with more women in decision-making positions. I have been fortunate to be surrounded by a very large group of really strong women my entire life. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how lucky I was to have that influence in my life. The more we elevate women, the more it will benefit society as a whole.
As a woman, it’s impossible to reflect on International Women’s Month without thinking of the deeper issues of why the need for this awareness exists. While it’s also a time to empower each other, recognize our adversities and become stronger because of them, it also begs the question – when does real change happen?
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day was #BreaktheBias. In accordance with this, I urge everyone to actively call out gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping each time you see it. Women are powerful and our voices matter; and going into this year I encourage you to be unapologetically yourself. <3
Every woman has their own unique story, and for me International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month is about honouring and amplifying all the unique experiences and intersectionalities of womanhood. These stories come in all shapes and forms; from the women leading in boardrooms, to the mothers raising their children, all the way to the silent movers and shakers working overtime to achieve their goals. For me, this month rides on the promise of letting all women be who they want to be and empowering them to be the author of their own stories. For those who can’t find the words to write or don’t exactly know how to fill their pages, I hope this month serves as a friendly reminder that we’re all bestsellers regardless of the genre we choose to be.
Women’s History Month is about acknowledging and celebrating the economic, cultural, political, and societal achievements of women! It’s also an important month to raise awareness and recognize the inequality women still face today. Whether it’s women making less than their male counterparts in the workplace, or being the minority in education, government, sports, and more, we must continue the conversation and take action to achieve our global goal of gender equality. Together!
International Women’s day is a day to acknowledge and honour women around the world for the contribution we make every day to society. We celebrate the accomplishments and the power of women!
Women’s History Month is about recognizing the incredible contributions women make each and every day to our world. It makes me think of my grandma, fighting for a better life for her family and doing so in a time where women were not seen as equals to men. It’s a time to celebrate the beautiful, strong women in your life, to celebrate yourself, and to reflect on the many changes that still must be made.
It’s all about celebrating women, encouraging, and supporting them in anything they do! It’s great to see them achieve success in everything! I think that women deserve to be CEOs, their own bosses, entrepreneurs, etc. They are beautiful, smart, and strong! They deserve to be recognized in the world! Without women, this world is gray and boring! So many have already achieved greatness, we just need to support more of that!
International Women’s Month provides the opportunity to reflect, appreciate, and celebrate all of the incredible accomplishments that women have pioneered. Every element of our lives was somehow shaped with the help of a woman and for that we should be thankful. From the invention of WIFI, to NASA space missions, and everyday acts of kindness and brilliance, women are leaders. I look forward to women being able to take up more space in areas that are male-dominated and excited about the progress being made toward equality. More and more conversations around women’s rights and empowerment are happening each and every day and I am optimistic that this will continue and have a positive impact on women’s everyday lives.
Show me a world that can exist without a woman. There isn’t a day that goes by when you aren’t impacted by a woman in your life. Beautiful, Smart, Fierce, strong, independent, born to shine – those are just a few of the adjectives that describe what a woman is and this month serves as a reminder that regardless of the underlying gender bias or inequality that exists in our society, there is no stopping the powerful force that they are. It’s a time to celebrate and reflect on the achievements of the past generations that paved a path for the opportunities and freedom we have today! It’s a month to celebrate every milestone and make a conscious effort to appreciate all the gorgeous women in our lives who have contributed to making our world a happier place!
