As a social media influencer on Instagram, you not only want to be able to have knowledge and understanding of what makes you special as a content creator; but more so, have the ability to analyse and understand how your content performs on a post-by-post basis, as well as to know who your followers are at a segmented demographic level.
Fortunately, Instagram does provide access to this data and analysis for influencers – although it’s only accessible if your Instagram profile is converted from a personal account to a business account.
In order to switch your personal Instagram account to a Business account, first login, and then follow the steps below:
STEPS TO CONVERTING YOUR INSTAGRAM PROFILE TO A BUSINESS ACCOUNT
1 > On your Instagram Profile view, select the gear icon, and select the ‘Switch to Business Profile’ option.
2 > On the Connect Your Facebook Page screen, you’ll see all of the Facebook Pages of which you’re currently an admin
NOTE: you’ll need to be an admin on a Facebook page in order to convert to a business account
3 > Select the Page you’d like to associate with your Business Profile on Instagram – this will also allow you to easily syndicate any Instagram Posts to your Facebook fanpage when you publish them on Instagram with the flick of a switch.
4 > Next, IG the setup will prompt you to add your contact information (phone, email, business address) – this will allow users to connect with you directly from the Instagram app (no more sliding in your DM’s).
> Phone – will enable a click-to-call function on mobile
> Email – will prompt your default email client with an auto-populated email recipient
> Directions – will prompt a directions search to your business location, from your default map app on your phone (usually Google Maps or Apple Maps)
And that’s it! You’re now set-up on an Instagram business account which will not only provide advertisers the information they’re looking for in order to qualify you as a desirable influencer to promote their brand, but it will also provide you with meaningful analytics on your posts, which will allow you to adjust and curate your content based on what resonates best with your audience!
