The rise of creator funds has proven that creativity pays off—literally. In fact, a total of $1 billion has been set aside for Facebook and Instagram creators through 2022. 

Whether you’re a fashion, travel, or foodie influencer, social media platforms are now working harder than ever to reward the talent, inventiveness, time, and effort of these individuals. 

But exactly how are creator funds earned, and who is eligible to become part of such programs? The Influence Agency, one of North America’s top digital marketing agencies, is here to break down all the details.

Instagram Creator Funds

Instagram creators can enjoy increased opportunities for monetization through the following programs: Instagram In-Stream Video Ads Bonus and Live Bonus. 

Who Is Eligible?

In-Stream Video Ads Bonuses and Live Bonuses are currently by invitation only for those who meet the following qualifications:

Instagram In-Stream Video Ads Bonus Program

When invited creators sign up for in-stream ads, they will receive a one-time bonus. Over time, they will earn a share of the revenue from ads that run during their videos

Live Bonus Program

These bonuses can be earned when certain milestones are reached during Instagram Live sessions. 

Milestone One

Reward: $100

Go live with badges for at least 15 minutes within the first seven days after onboarding to Badges Milestones.

Milestone Two

Reward: $150

Go live with at least one other account for at least 30 minutes. This should be completed within 30 days after onboarding to Badges Milestones or 30 days after completing Milestone One.

Milestone Three

Reward: $250

Go live for at least 15 minutes per week for four consecutive weeks. Milestone Three can be earned multiple times for as long as the bonus program runs.

Facebook Creator Funds

The Facebook platform offers incentives for creators through the In-Stream Bonus program and Stars Bonus Challenge. Its goal is to help creators earn more while they learn how to create the type of content that can be monetized.

Who Is Eligible?

The In-Stream Bonus program and Stars Bonus Challenge are currently available to select content creators by invitation only. These individuals must comply with Facebook’s Monetization Policies.

In-Stream Bonus Program

Invited pages with in-stream ads switched on for their content can earn a maximum of $10,000 in additional earnings per month.

Stars Bonus Challenge Program

Earning stars has never been more rewarding! This program is available for invited video and gaming creators who reach specific Stars milestones on the platform. 

Stars Challenge One

Reward: $150

Earn 5,000 stars within 28 days of unlocking the first challenge to receive the reward. 

TikTok Creator Funds

The video-focused social networking platform believes that TikTok creators inspire, entertain, and light up social media with their incredible content. That’s why they’ve decided to reward them by giving them the chance to turn their creativity into earnings. 

How Much Does TikTok Pay?

How much a certain video earns depends on various factors. This includes the total number of views, video engagement, and audience location. 

Who Is Eligible?

  • Must be at least 18 years old 
  • A minimum of 10,000 followers on a pro account
  • At least 100,000 views in the last 30 days
  • A legal resident of the US, District of Columbia, UK, Italy, Germany, France, or Spain
  • Must consistently post original content in line with TikTok’s Community Guidelines

How to Join TikTok Creator Funds

To apply for TikTok’s creator funds, simply open your account settings on the app. Then, tap “Creator Tools” and select “TikTok Creator Fund.” 

Youtube Shorts Fund

In May 2021, Youtube introduced the Youtube Shorts Fund, which is a whopping total of $100 million to be distributed throughout 2021 and 2022.

Who Is Eligible?

Anyone who creates unique Shorts content and adheres to community guidelines is eligible for the creator fund, even if they aren’t part of the Youtube Partner program. 

The following qualifications have to be met as well:

  • Must be a minimum of 13 years old (minors need a parent or guardian to accept the terms and set up an AdSense account for them)
  • At least one eligible Short released in the last 180 days
  • Content must be completely original without any third-party material
  • A resident of the following countries:
